In the present scenario most of the Government offices works in narrow office rooms accumulated with old files and records. It can be seen in many Government Departments where these officials work in such rooms with out proper lightning and even good air circulation. The public who visits the office receives an arrogant manner of behavior from the office staff in few cases can be due to the pathetic atmosphere in these offices.  It is a fact that during the implementation of the End-to-End Computerisation of the Public Distribution System in Kerala, the office automation works and the redesigning of the existing infrastructure into ergonomic work stations with Connectivity and networked client systems will enable the office staff to work more effectively, which will be a component for the success of the project. As part of renovation of the 6 sections (A – Section dealing with Rationing matters, B & I – Sections dealing with establishment matters of staff, Despatch Section, IT Section & NIC unit section) in the Commissionerate of Civil Supplies, M/s SIDCO has submitted the Plan & Estimate which was approved by the state Government. Accordingly SIDCO has completed the office automation works in 4 sections and is under progress in the remaining 2 sections. The provision of ergonomic workstations and storage facilities, provided with false ceiling, Vitrified tiles and modern lighting facilities in the above sections will definitely improve the working atmosphere of the office staff.

Further, Networking and 2 Mbps KSWAN connectivity has been completed in 84 offices under Civil Supplies Department. The work was entrusted to M/s KELTRON based on the Government Order (Rt) No.337/14/F&CSD dtd.5/11/2014. Civil Supplies Department paid an amount of 2.36 crores for the installation of Connectivity in all the offices. Ration Card renewal works are done in the DSO/TSOs by availing this KSWAN connectivity. In the Commissionerate of Civil Supplies the KSWAN connectivity is established in the control room and 4 Mbps BSNL leased line connectivity is established as the redundant connectivity. At present all the offices of the Department is equipped with KSWAN connectivity and the same is working smoothly.
